Alan Cumming explained in an interview with Advocate back in 2015 his sexuality has never been ‘black and white.’ Instead he describes it as ‘grey.’

‘I’m with a man, but I haven’t closed myself off to the fact that I’m still sexually attracted to women,’ Cumming added.

He also fights the biphobia by explaining: ‘It doesn’t matter if you’re married or not, or having sex with anyone or not. There are straight couples who don’t have sex. There are gay people who don’t have sex. But if you’re sexually attracted to both sexes, you’re bisexual.’

Alayna Fender is known by the name Miss Fender online. She regularly makes content about being bisexual.

Some of her most popular videos are part of her ‘I Don’t Bi It’ series. Each videos sees her sit down with other members of the LGBTI community to discuss different sexuality and gender-related topics. She explained to Mimp Magazine the idea for the series came about after she came out as bisexual.

Alayna continued: ‘I began to see a lot of myths and misconceptions about being bi, and bisexuality in general. I saw how real biphobia was, both in the straight and LGBTQ communities. When I was thinking about this one day, the idea came to me: “wouldn’t it be funny to make a video interviewing my partner, where I act as if I believe all these negative stereotypes.” And I Don’t Bi It was born!’

Alex G is a musician and YouTuber. She came out as bisexual at the start of 2017. She explained in a video on National Coming Out day that Evan Rachel Wood inspired her to come out.

‘Seeing Evan Rachel Wood talk was the first time I had seen myself in someone else who claimed bisexual as their identity,’ Alex recalled. ‘And I was like, whoa, I guess it’s like, okay to say that I’m bisexual? That makes sense to me. This makes sense for who I am.’

Alia Shawkat has been open about being bisexual after coming out in early 2017. The Arrested Development star recalled her mother asking her whether she was interested in ‘boys or girls.’

Her response? ‘I said I don’t know. Now I consider myself bisexual, and I think balancing my male and female energies has been a big part of me growing as an actor.’

Hearts over the world ached for Alyson Stoner when she came out as a member of the LGBTI community in April 2018.

In an essay for Teen Vogue, the dancer and singer explained she had ‘internalized some of the harmful beliefs and misconceptions about LGBTQ people and identities.’ This made it harder for her to embrace her identity.

Alyson is now proudly out, and says she is attracted to ‘men, women, and people who identify in other ways.’

Andy Dick is an American comedian and actor. He even appeared in an episode of Sense8.

He’s been very clear about his sexuality since he first spoke about it in an interview in 2006. Speaking to Washington Post, he stated plainly: ‘Just because I’ve been with guys, and I’m bi, doesn’t mean I’m gay.’

You may recognize Asia Kate Dillon from their role as Brandy in Orange Is The New Black, or Taylor in Billions. When asked whether understanding their gender changed who they’re attracted to, Asia firmly said: ‘No, not at all.’

They went on to clarify: ‘From the time I came to understand sex and sexual orientation, and all of that, I’ve identified as pansexual and I’ve always felt like I had the spiritual, emotional, physical capability of being attracted to any gender.’

The Advocate asked her in an interview if women often come onto her. The actress responded that they do.

‘I know I have an androgynous thing going on, and there’s something masculine about my energy. Girls are into me — that’s no secret. Hey, I’m into them too. I fall in love with girls and guys. I can’t help it,’ Aubrey continued.

She explained she of course had a ‘special affection’ for her gay fans.

‘I mean, I’m bisexual, so it makes sense. But I don’t want to be that girl who says all gays necessarily hang out together, of course!’ The rapper added. I have people say to me, “Oh wow, my friend is gay, too,” and I’m like, “Yeah, so?”

Bebe Rexha came out as interested in men and women after appearing on Rita Ora’s controversial track Girls.

In an interview for the Dan Wootton podcast, she explained: ‘I just like go with the flow. At the end of the day love is love and I don’t think it should be labelled any which way. I’ve never looked at it like that in my life. It’s whether someone makes you feel something in your tummy or not.’

‘I think that’s how my parents raised me, everyone’s equal and you can just love who you want and be fluid. And then sometimes when you travel around the world you see certain things about how people view sexuality and it sucks.’

Green Day frontman Billie Joe said way back in the 90s he was bisexual, which he described as ‘a beautiful thing.’

But then in 2010, he backtracked slightly during an interview with Out. Billie Joe told them: ‘I don’t really classify myself as anything. And when it comes to sex, there are parts of me that are very shy and conservative. I want to respect my wife. My wife Googled “Billie Joe Armstrong bisexual” [and] she’s like, “Yeah, there are about 20 pictures of you kissing different guys.”‘

Cara told Vogue ‘it took me a long time to accept the idea’ that she was attracted to women. Then in 2017, she spoke out about how frustrated she gets when people assume she is gay. In an interview with Glamour, she recalled : ‘Once I spoke about my sexual fluidity, people were like, “So you’re gay.” And I’m like, “No, I’m not gay.”‘

Actress and singer Carrie Brownstein was sadly outed when a news outlet reported on her having previously dated one of her bandmates. At that point she hadn’t even spoken about being interested in women, let alone dating one.

After that, Carrie was reported as identifying as gay but then went on record to go against that. She explained in 2010: ‘It’s weird, because no one’s actually ever asked me. People just always assume, like, you’re this or that. It’s like, “OK. I’m bisexual. Just ask.”‘

French singer Héloïse Letissier is better known by her stage name Christine and the Queens. They’ve been open about identifying as pansexual since 2014.

In a 2016 interview the BBC she explained that for her, identifying as pansexual means that she ‘can fall in love with someone regardless of their gender, regardless of how they define themselves.’

Music industry legend Clive Davis revealed in his 2013 memoir The Soundtrack of my Life that he identifies bisexual.

Speaking to Katie Couric on her talk show, Davis said: ‘I’m still attracted to women, you don’t have to be only one thing or another. For me, it’s the person.’

Actress and politician Cynthia Nixon first acknowledged her sexuality in 2008 when the press reported on her dating a woman. At the time she explained: ‘I don’t feel there was a hidden part of my sexuality that I wasn’t aware of. I’d been with men all my life, and I’d never fallen in love with a woman. But when I did, it didn’t seem so strange. I’m just a woman in love with another woman.’

Then in 2012, she clarified that she identifies as bisexual. She said in an interview with Daily Beast: ‘I don’t pull out the “bisexual” word because nobody likes the bisexuals.’

When The Walking Dead actor Daniel Newman first came out in early 2017, it was wildly misreported he had come out as gay.

He later cleared things up in an interview with Advocate. Daniel explained: ‘I had just told the reporter about being bisexual and having girlfriends and things like that. She was like, “Oh, cool. Are you in a relationship?” And I was like, “Yeah, I have an incredible boyfriend.” And she’s like, “Oh, cool. It’s awesome you came out as gay.”‘

Demi Lovato came out in 2017. Her documentary Simply Complicated was released on 17 October.

In the documentary, the singer explains she is on exclusive dating app Raya with her settings open to men and women. Demi said: ‘I am on the dating app with both guys and girls. I am open to human connection. So whether that’s through a male or female, it doesn’t matter to me.’

Musician and YouTuber Dodie Clark came out as bisexual in a video in May 2016. The singer then went on to write a coming out song in which she sings about having  ‘a heart that could love plural genders.’

Disney actress Dove Cameron came out as bisexual super subtly in early 2017. After breaking off her engagement with her boyfriend at the time, she posted a picture of her kissing female friend Kiersey Clemons. Following that, a fan sent her two tweets – One read ‘like this if gay’ and the other read ‘like this if bisexual.’

Surprise – Dove liked the one that asked if she was bisexual.

Actress Drew Barrymore spoke about her sexuality in 2003. She explained in July that year: ‘Do I like women sexually? Yeah, I do. Totally. I have always considered myself bisexual.’

The starlet continued: ‘I love a woman’s body. I think a woman and a woman together are beautiful, just as a man and a woman together are beautiful. Being with a woman is like exploring your own body, but through someone else.’

Popular YouTuber Eva Gutowski is most commonly known by her YouTube channel title, MyLifeAsEva. She came out as bisexual in a series of tweets in August 2016.

Her first tweet stated that ‘just because you haven’t dated someone of the same sex does not mean you can’t be taken seriously as a bisexual.’ The online creator then went on to explain she has been ‘fall in love with someone, no matter who they end up being’ since she was 12.

The final of the series of five tweets read: ‘Accepting yourself as being bisexual is not pledging to be “different”. It’s pledging to be honest.’

Hollywood star Evan Rachel Wood came out as bisexual in early 2011. She explained candidly in an interview she’s ‘always into very androgynous things. guys, girls.’ When asked if she dates women, in that same Esquire interview,  the actress proudly announced ‘yes.’

She reminisced about growing up in an interview with Gay Star News later in 2014. Evan explained: ‘I remember growing up not knowing it [bisexuality] was a thing, feeling very confused, feeling very alone.’

Ezra Miller is a much loved US actor. He came out as queer in 2012 when he was 19. He then explained in 2013 that he uses the word queer because it ‘feels the most open and inclusive.’

The actor added: ‘I think there are a lot of people who fall on this open spectrum of sexuality. My friends and I use that word as an all-encompassing banner and for every human being. There should be an ongoing question and investigation of who you love and everything that’s involved with that very tricky and beautiful thing.’

Fergie revealed to UK newspaper The Sun back in 2009 that while she had never had a steady girlfriend she had ‘experimented definitely.’

She later explained to The Advocate that she has always been ‘very open and honest about that from the very beginning, and everyone was acting like it was some new trend.’

American singer, songwriter and rapper Frank Ocean came out as bisexual back in 2012. He came out in a text document he typed on a ‘plane between New Orleans and Los Angeles’ and posted to his Tumblr account.

He explains in the post: ‘4 summers ago, I met somebody. I was 19 years old. He was too. We spent that summer, and the summer after, together. Everyday almost, and on the days we were together, time would glide.

‘Most of the time I’d see him, and his smile. I’d hear his conversation and his silence…until it was time to sleep. Sleep I would often share with him. By the time I realized I was in love, it was malignant. It was hopeless.’

Singing sensation Halsey has been open about identifying as bisexual since she rose to fame in 2015. She spoke at the 2018 GLAAD Media Awards about her battle to become a ‘better representative of the LGBT community.’

UK comedian Joe Lycett ‘came out as gay in sixth form and now describes himself as bisexual on stage.’

Though he describes himself as bisexual on stage, Joe explained in an interview with iNews that he does this because it’s easier for people to understand. But, he doesn’t actually ‘quite think it’s that.’ He actually identifies as pansexual.

Singer Kehlani has always been open about her attraction to more than one gender. In April 2018 though, she explained that she felt the label of gay ‘always insisted there was still a line drawn as to which ‘label’ of human I was attracted when I really jus be walking around thinking ERRYBODY FINE.’

Keke Palmer’s music video for 2015 single I Don’t Belong To You saw her leave her boyfriend to meet another woman to hook up. This lead to much speculation about her sexuality. She then came out and explained her sexuality is fluid.

‘I’m making the rules for myself, and I don’t have to be stuck down to one label,’ Keke told People magazine. ‘I don’t feel the need to define nothin’ to nobody, because I’m always changing. Why say that I’m this or that when I might not be tomorrow?’

Actress Kiersey Clemons had played a number of LGBTI characters on our screens before coming out queer earlier this year. In an interview with INTO, she explained: ‘I was introduced to everyone in Dope playing a queer person, so I guess it just worked out that way.’

After starring in Dope as a queer female, she attended Sundance Festival aged 19. She remembers being asked regularly if she was gay or straight. The actress continued: ‘I was getting asked in the media about my sexuality before I had even like thought about having to like tell anybody anything like that. ‘

Kristanna Loken appeared on our screens in 2006 when starring in Terminator 3. She also appeared in TV show The L Word from 2007 to 2008.

The actress addressed her sexuality in March 2006. She explained she connects with a person’s aura and energy. In the interview with Curve magazine, Kristanna continued: ‘I have dated and have had sex with men and women and have to say that the relationships I have had with certain women have been much more fulfilling, sexually and emotionally, than those with certain men.’

Canadian singer Lights opened up in December 2017 about discovering her bisexuality through her music. The artist, real name, Valerie Anne Poxleitner, adapted her album Skin & Earth into a six-part comic book series.

She explained the main character En in the dystopian series is ‘a reflection of my personality.’ Lights described the character as ‘kind of a goof, this totally flawed person with issues, and she’s bisexual.’

Then the singer added: ‘It made me realize that about myself, too. If I met the right girl, I could easily fall in love. Love is so much more than gender: You fall in love with a person.’

Model Lily-Rose Depp has come out as sexually fluid in 2015.

The 16-year-old daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis made the revelation by posing for the Self Evident Project – ‘a photographic document of 10,000 people in the USA that identify as anything other than 100% straight.’

Singer, songwriter and journalist Lizzie Marvelly came out as bisexual after being nominated for a  Celebrity Ally Award.

She explained that while she was honored to be nominated, she would not be able to accept the award as she identifies as bisexual. Part of the reason she had not previously come out was because she did not know whether she could deal with ‘the scrutiny of having my sexuality highlighted in the media.’

Writer and performer Mara Wilson,  who was a child star in films like Matilda,  came out as a member of the LGBTI community in 2016 following the Pulse nightclub attack in Orlando.

The actress explained that she finds comfort in numbers and is a 2 on the Kinsey scale. For those unfamiliar, it’s a scale that goes from zero – exclusively heterosexual – to six – exclusively homosexual.

After more questions, she went on to state that she uses the labels bisexual or queer.

Actress Zelda Williams has long been open about her sexuality. She spoke about her reasons for being vocal about her sexuality on Chelsea Handler’s self-titled Netflix show.

Zelda explained: ‘I think it’s everyone’s choice in how open they want to be or not. For me, there’s a lot of erasure of bisexuality. I think a lot of people — especially in women — they tend to have really bad responses to it. They think you can’t have a monogamous relationship. By the way, it doesn’t really matter if you want to be not-monogamous or not. Your sexuality doesn’t really dictate that. Being bisexual doesn’t mean I’m suddenly willy-nilly running around.’
