Bisexual actress Cara Delevingne opened up about her experience with sexual assault.

Delevingne has hinted at having dealt with sexual abuse in the past, but she explained why she chose not to report it only recently.

She tweeted using the hashtag WhyIDidntReport to clarify why she didn’t speak up today (27 September).

‘Because I felt ashamed of what happened and didn’t want to publicly ruin someone’s life,’ she tweeted.

She furthermore added: ‘even though they privately ruined mine’.

Harvey Weinstein

Many believe she is talking about Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. The shamed mogul allegedly sexually assaulted many women in the movie industry.

In the aftermath of Weinstein’s scandal, Delevingne said he had phoned her to ask about her sexual orientation and whether she slept with all the women she had worked with. Moreover, the actress said he made unwanted advances to her in a hotel room.

‘It was a very odd and uncomfortable call….,’ she wrote on Instagram in October 2017.

‘I answered none of his questions and hurried off the phone but before I hung up, he said to me that If I was gay or decided to be with a woman especially in public that I’d never get the role of a straight woman or make it as an actress in Hollywood.’

She also wrote: ‘I was so hesitant about speaking out. I didn’t want to hurt his family.’

Cara Delevingne joined the WhyIDidntReport conversation

The hashtag campaign has been launched after US President Donald Trump suggested the victims of sexual misconduct should alert the authorities at the time of the incident.

Whit this statement, Trump weighed in on the conversation around Brett Kavanaugh, the President’s pick for a position on the US Supreme Court. Kavanaugh allegedly assaulted several women when he was a teenager.

She is now rumored to be dating Pretty Little Liars actress Ashley Benson.

The two have appeared in many social media snaps together ever since May 2018. Paparazzi caught the two kissing at Heathrow Airport in London in August.

However, neither Cara nor Ashely has confirmed the relationship yet.
