For the second year in a row, a same-sex kiss has taken out Best Kiss at the MTV Movie Awards.

The cheesy but adorable Ferris wheel kiss in Love, Simon won for best smooch at this year’s awards.

Love, Simon star Keiynan Lonsdale – who came out as queer on the set of the film – accepted the award. His costar was not able to accept the award because he was filming another movie.

‘I just want to say to every kid: You can live your dreams and wear dresses; you can live your dreams and kiss the one that you love no matter what gender they are,’ he said in his heartwarming speech.

He then went on to say: ‘You can live your dreams and you can believe in magic; you can live your dreams, and you can be yourself.’

Lonsdale accepted the award while wearing an etheral white dress, and ombre long gold coat. He sported a gold tiara on his forehead, over his bleached blonde hair.

The crowd cheered when Lonsdale gestured to himself while saying ‘you can live your dreams and wear dresses’.

Two years in a row

Love, Simon is a gay coming out story set in suburban USA and is the first major studio film to have a gay male protagonist. The film has been a worldwide smash.

Last year, Ashton Sanders and Jharrel Jermone won best kiss for the Oscar winning movie, Moonlight.

Other same-sex kiss wins have gone to Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair for their Cruel Intentions. Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger  also won for their love story in Brokeback Mountain.
