Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, the first woman who accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, appeared today (27 September) in front of the Senate committee conducting Kavanaugh’s hearing confirmation.
Ford came forward several weeks ago, saying Kavanaugh and a friend attacked her at a high school party. She said she was afraid Kavanaugh was going to rape her, and possibly even kill her, as he held her down and covered her mouth, before she got away.
Three other woman have also come forward with accusations against Kavanaugh, two named and one anonymous.
Numerous LGBTI organizations called for Kavanaugh’s withdrawal following these allegations.
Dr. Ford underwent questioning in front of both Democrat and Republican Senators, as well as prosecutor Rachel Mitchell.
LGBTI celebrities took to social media to express their support for Ford, and saying they believe her.
Commending her bravery and courage
Billy Eichner, who has been very politically active this year, including starting his own voting campaign, tweeted his undeniable belief in Dr. Ford.

Meanwhile, celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and Heather Matarazzo commended Dr. Ford’s bravery and encouraged believing women and survivors.

Other figures, like Sarah Paulson, Janelle Monáe, Tessa Thompson, Antoni Porowski, and Lance Blass, all re-tweeted various politicians and other organizations in support of Dr. Ford today.
A vote could take place as early as tomorrow, though many people on both sides of the political aisle have called for a delay.
