It’s the best day of the year, Galentine’s Day!
Originally conceived in a 2010 episode of Parks and Recreation, the character Leslie Knope (played by Amy Poehler) deems 13 February, the day before Valentine’s Day, to be a day about ‘ladies celebrating ladies’.
Since then, it’s become a more official and widely celebrated day.
Galentine’s Day parties are held all over the world and women spend the day praising the other women in their lives.
This year, actor Lucy Lawless aka Xena herself joined in on the fun — by sharing a steamy photo of Xena and Gabrielle.

A pair of gals bein’ pals.
Just kidding! Xena and Gabrielle, since their adventures from 1995 to 1999, have become one of the most iconic and influential ships in the LGBTI community.
Played by Lawless and Renee O’Connor, the pair of characters have topped many lists as being one of the best TV relationships — queer or otherwise.

Last year, TV writer Javier Grillo-Marxuach announced he was developing a Xena: Warrior Princess reboot.
He described it as being ‘a very different show’ from the original. He also added that a reboot would ‘fully explore a relationship that could only be shown subtextually’ in the 1990s series, which many took to mean a queer relationship between Xena and Gabrielle.
Unfortunately, NBC never picked up the reboot.
