World celebrates Bi Visibility Day

Sunday (23 September) marked Bi Visibility. Bisexuals, the LGBTI community, and allies proudly flew the purple, pink and blue flag at events around the world.

It was the 20th annual Bi Visibility Day. It was first observed in Johannesburg in 1999. Events will be taking place around the world throughout the week.

Let’s have a look at how the world marked Bi Visibility Day.

Europe

British institutions the Royal Mail and the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport flew the purple, pink and blue flag over the weekend.

In Norway, LGBTI and bisexual groups held a pop-up cafe in the center of Trondheim.

The United States

Los Angeles made history by holding the first known city-wide Bi Pride even in the US.

In New York, The famous LGBT Center flew the flag to show support.

AmBi Social organized a meet up in Portland, Oregan.

Worldwide

The United Nations marked the day by sharing a video on how to be a better ally for the bi community.

Iraq’s first LGBTI group, Iraqueer also tweeted in support.
