Howard Brown Health faces hearing with federal labor officials

Written by

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The National Labor Relations Board has filed a complaint against Howard Brown Health and set a hearing date for allegations of unfair labor practices.

The NLRB’s formal complaint follows months of negotiations and a decision in July to find merit in accusations of bad faith-bargaining by Howard Brown.

The Illinois Nurses Association represents 61 employees laid off early last year and accused the LGBTQ health center of not sharing information with the union and refusing to bargain.

Howard Brown says in a statement it’s surprised by the board’s decision to schedule a hearing for October and will continue to work towards a settlement on back pay before then.
