St. Albans Pride Corps celebrates first ever LGBTQ Pride Weekend

Written by

ST. ALBANS, Vt. (WCAX) – St. Albans Pride Corps just wrapped up their first ever LGBTQ Pride Weekend, and are already planning for next year.

They started off the weekend with a drag show, and a pride parade on Saturday.

Organizers say, at least eight hundred people from in and around the community joined in on the fun.

Over one hundred fifty groups and people participated in the parade – with several vendors in Taylor Park.

St. Albans Pride Corps closed their Pride Weekend with an ice cream social for the community, and the dates for the city’s next Pride Weekend are already scheduled.

“We are still hearing about it,” St. Albans Pride Corps President Scott Bushey said. “People are still saying how much fun they had. They were just surprised about the turnout themselves. Tentatively we want to work with Essex Pride next year. Theirs is the first weekend of every June. Ours is the second weekend, so we are tossing around the idea of maybe starting with their weekend. Going for like 10 whole days.”

Next year’s pride event will still be on June 7, 8 and 9.
