LGBTQ name change clinic in Old Louisville gives free advice to Kentucky residents

Written by

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Members of the LGBTQ community had the opportunity to learn more about what it takes for someone to legally change their name.

Saturday was the third annual Free Name Change Clinic. Dinsome and Shojl LLP hosted the event to help Kentucky residents legally change their names and identify with their true selves.

Attendees had free consultations and received the necessary legal forms for the name change thanks to the help of attorney’s, notaries and paralegals.

“It shouldn’t be a huge thing to get somebody the privilege to walk through the world as they are but with the resources our firm and that these volunteers have we really are grateful to be able to use those resources,” said Suzy Marino, an associate attorney.

The volunteers will now file petitions in court and work to get the names legally changed.
