FRESNO, Calif (FOX26) — LGBTQ Fresno says it will hold a counter-protest to Westboro Baptist Church, as the Kansas-based Church announced members will be in Fresno next week.
According to Jason Scott of LGBTQ Fresno, the purpose of the counter-protest is to combat the church’s “hate speech.”
Scott says the demonstration will be peaceful and will provide a loving, positive message.
The group says it will use rainbow umbrellas to “shield” attendees from the church’s message.
Attendees are encouraged to bring rainbow colors and their own umbrellas.
The demonstrations will be happening on the following dates.
Monday, October 28 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm at Roosevelt High School in Fresno.
Thursday, October 31 from 7:00 am to 8:00 am at Reedley High School in Reedley.
