Perez Hilton calls his son, who he named after himself, his ‘mini-me
Perez Hilton is being accused of homophobia for banning his son from learning dance.
His reason? He doesn’t want his five-year-old son to end up gay.
The 40-year-old gay blogger has defended his decision claiming he is not homophobic to want his son to be straight.
He said he would prefer his son Mario to grow up heterosexual because it is ‘easier’.
‘I’m not going to put a number on it, but I would say a good amount – maybe like 50% or more – of little boys who take dance class end up being gay,’ Hilton said in a video.
‘Ultimately, every decision I make for my son is what I think is best for his future.
‘I don’t want to do anything that could potentially hurt him.’
In the video, he stresses he believes he was born gay. However, he also reiterated how he believed dance class would somehow have an influence on his son’s sexuality.
But he did say he would ultimately support his son.
‘And if he really wanted to take dance class — which he hasn’t expressed that — if he begged and pleaded, if I saw that would make him truly happy, I would do that,’ he said.
Hilton is also the father of two other children, two-year-old Mia and five-month-old Mayte.
He added: ‘If my son turns out to be gay, or if he turns out to be gay but not able to articulate that yet because he’s only five, I will love my son unconditionally and support him.
‘If my son is transgender, I will love him and support him unconditionally.’
Perez Hilton: ‘They’re gonna suffer because of who their dad is’
Last year, Hilton published a tearful video after getting fired from a TV opportunity.
‘Sure, I am opinionated and sassy, but I have changed,’ Perez says, referring his reputation as a controversial gossip blogger.
‘I’ve grown, I’ve evolved. Despite that, a lot of people aren’t willing to let me continue to grow. I’m constantly being punished for the mistake of my past.’
He said sorry to his kids because ‘when they’re older they’re gonna suffer because of who their dad is.’
