One of the biggest Pride festivals in the world, the annual Sao Paulo Pride took place yesterday in Brazil’s biggest city.
The festival was celebrating its 22nd year. It attracted hundreds of thousands to the city’s main avenue, Avenida Paulista. Loud music from 18 sound trucks ensured a carnival atmosphere reigned throughout the day.
Focussing on the country’s upcoming elections in October, the theme for this year’s march was ‘Power for the LGBT+ — Our Vote, Our Voice.’
Parade-goers packed around ten blocks – with the event kicking off at noon and running until 6pm. South American superstar Anitta, performing on the float of headline sponsor Skol, was among those to entertain the crowd on the route.
