Queer actor Keiynan Lonsdale just announced he’s taking a step back from his role in The Flash/Legends of Tomorrow.

The Love, Simon actor took to Twitter to confirm reports he was no longer a series regular.

He tweeted: ‘I’m not returning as a season regular for The Flash or Legends [of Tomorrow].

‘It’s definitely not a total goodbye or “see ya never” situation, cause Wally West will still be round when you need him the most! It’s just that it won’t be full time anymore.’

The news comes about after a whirlwind year for Lonsdale.

He starred in the hugely popular coming-of-age movie Love, Simon. He also came out in a touching Instagram post in May last year.

‘That shit right there made me a stronger actor’

He continued in the post: ‘I’ve changed a lot in the past year and for infinite reasons, my perspective on life and what I want from it now is just completely different. Because of that, my heart told me it was the right time to continue my journey on an unknown path.

‘I’m so damn grateful to both shows for honouring and respecting that with me,’ he said.

In a follow-up screenshot, he wrote: ‘I love Kid Flash, I love the family I’ve made and I’m absolutely in love with the invaluable lessons I’ve learnt along the way.

‘Thank you for believing in me and rooting for Wally to thrive. You honestly helped me see that I did indeed deserve to play him, and that shit right there made me a stronger actor.

‘Anyway, I hope you stick around for the new adventures – the only thing I can promise is magic.’

Lonsdale turned heads when he wore a sexy pirate outfit to the GLAAD awards this year. He also released a song called Kiss The Boy earlier this year.

He says in the song: ‘If you wanna kiss the boy, then you better kiss the boy right now.’

Lonsdale started his career in the popular Australian kids television show, Dance Academy.

He played the character of Ollie Lloyd, a talented out-gay dancer who falls in love with the show’s lead, Sammy Lieberman.

The two are in a relationship until Sammy’s death, at which point, Ollie dates Rhys O’Leary.
