Nick Grimshaw has discussed long-standing rumors he was once in a relationship with pop star Harry Styles for the first time.
The former Radio 1 Breakfast Show host and the former One Direction member have been firm friends for years.
‘It was an odd, odd thing to happen’
Asked outright if he was or had dated Harry, Nick told The Sun: ‘No, not at all.’
‘It was an odd, odd thing to happen,’ he furthermore continued.
He also added: ‘It wasn’t very weird at the time. It’s weirder now. At the time, you’re just getting on with your life and you’re doing the radio and just hanging out and you’re like, whatever.
‘But it was weirder when he came on to do the solo stuff and I started doing my Harry research, writing questions and stuff, and when I Googled him I was like, “This is actually a thing!”‘
Asked where he thought the rumours came from, Nick joked: ‘I think that people assumed that because I was gay and he wears like floral shirts that he must be gay, and they were like they must be going out with each other.’
Earlier this year, Harry released a song that some interpreted as a statement about bisexuality. Meanwhile, Nick came out as gay publicly in 2012.
