Contestants have enrolled in a 10-week intensive training
Pride Boxing will return to London on Friday 6 July to raise money in support of the LGBTI community.
Now in its second year, the white-collar boxing event is a partnership with Pride in London. It will bring together 42 amateur boxers competing for top prizes. London boxing gyms RJV Boxing, Durrants Gym, and Xclusive Touch will all take part in the competition.
The final matches will be at Porchester Hall, preceding the big parade day on 7 July.
A 10-week training for Pride Boxing
Contenders have enrolled in a 10-week training scheme. The rigorous programme began on 1 May at Durrant Gym on Caledonian Road and Cobra Gym, Victoria.
Each boxer is also receiving one-to-one coaching time with renowned boxing trainer Jon Durrant. He has more than ten years of experience in turning novice boxers into industry standard competitors for events such as The Big Fight UK and Industry Boxing.
At the completion of training, contestants can expect to gain a variety of health, fitness, and stress relief benefits. They will compete in an amateur bout against an evenly matched opponent on the night of 6 July.
Pride Boxing is part of more than 100 events of this year’s Pride Festival, which runs until 7 July.
A challenge for the LGBTI community
‘We’re absolutely thrilled to be collaborating with Pride in London for the second consecutive year,’ said co-director of RJV Boxing and Pride Boxing promoter Robbie Cave.
‘This year we’re hoping to raise more awareness, deliver another incredible experience and exceed last year’s fundraising total.’
‘Once again we’re calling on the LGBTI community in London to take on this challenge. Come along to support Pride in London and show how truly diverse our community is,’ said Pride in London director of fundraising Alex Talcer.
All proceeds from Pride Boxing 2018 are being donated to support Pride in London.
