Los Angeles Police are investigating after a man carrying a pickaxe smashed US President Donald Trump’s star on the iconic Walk of Fame.

The man reportedly hid the tool in a guitar case on his way to Hollywood Boulevard in the early hours of 25 July. Once there, he used the pickaxe to destroy Trump’s star to bits.

Donald Trump received a star for his role on the US Apprentice. The now US President hosted the reality television show for fourteen seasons.

Notably, the show’s prize was a one-year $250,000 starting contract to run one of Trump’s companies.

What happened to Donald Trump’s star

Police were called at around 3:30am to the scene on Hollywood Boulevard. They found Trump’s star completely destroyed, with rubble strews across the sidewalk.

Los Angeles Police Department (LADP) confirmed that a suspect later handed himself to Beverly Hills police. They also said the man will be booked on felony vandalism.

The reactions

Donald Trump hasn’t commented on the incident yet via his social channels.

However, many Twitter users showed their support to the pickaxe-wielding hero.

One user wished ‘nothing but happiness and good days to whoever destroyed’ it.

Another compared the pickaxing to what Donald Trump has been doing to America since his election.

On the other hand, former Pussycat Dolls member Kaya Jones, a fierce Trump’s supporter, also tweeted about the incident.

‘This is disgusting and the left will praise this as heroic,’ she tweeted, using several angry and sad emojis.

UK journalist and TV presenter Piers Morgan also shared his views on the vandalization.

‘Hysterical Trump-hating liberals once again failing to understand that such violent intolerance will strengthen his support, not damage it,’ he wrote.

This wasn’t the first time

This is not the first time Donald Trump’s star has been vandalized.

Back in 2016, Trump’s star was, in fact, destroyed by a James Otis. The man, dressed as a city construction worker, wielded a sledgehammer and pickaxed the star just a few weeks away from the election.

Otis pleaded no contest to felony vandalism in February 2017 and was sentenced to three years probation, 20 days of community service. He also agreed to pay $4,400 for the damage.
