The cover of Cher’s new ABBA covers album is all kinds of amazing.
The singer appears twice in the glitzy shot, donning blonde and brunette wigs.
She is shot from the front and the side, referencing how ABBA members Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad are presented in some of the band’s music videos.
The icon also revealed the release date of the album: 28 September. Its title, Dancing Queen, is of course inspired by ABBA’s signature song.
Today Cher also releases Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight), the first single off the album.
The album follows Cher’s scene-stealing turn in this summer’s Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the rom-com sequel inspired by ABBA’s music. In the movie, the Believe singer plays glamorous grandmother Ruby.
‘The songs were harder to sing than I imagined’
In a statement, Cher commented: ‘I’ve always liked ABBA and saw the original “Mamma Mia!” musical on Broadway three times.’

She furthermore added: ‘After filming “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”, I was reminded again of what great and timeless songs they wrote and started thinking, “Why not do an album of their music?”‘
She also said: ‘The songs were harder to sing than I imagined but I’m so happy with how the music came out. I’m really excited for people to hear it. It’s a perfect time.’
Good to have you back, Cher!
