Strictly Come Dancing’s Kevin Clifton
A dancer from Strictly Come Dancing said he wouldn’t have a problem if paired with another man on the show.
Professional dancer Kevin Clifton, who has been on the BBC One hit series for five years, expressed his views when taking questions on Twitter.
One fan asked ‘As a gay man who loves the show (and thinks you are brilliant), I’m curious where do you stand on same-sex dance partners? Would you be open to dancing with a guy if the show put that to you?’
Clifton Tweeted back: ‘Just to be clear I’m not involved in any of these decisions. But if that’s what they wanted then I’d have no problem with it.’
This comes at a time when same-sex representation on the show has become a hot-button issue.

No plans for same-sex pairings this year
The BBC already announced there would not be same-sex dance pairings in this year’s show.
A Strictly spokesman said: ‘Strictly has chosen the longstanding ballroom dancing format of mixed-sex couples.’
But there has been a growing number of voices lending their support for the show to feature a same-sex dance pairing.
This would not be a first. Same-sex dancing partners Giovanni Ciacci and Raimondo Todaro made it to the finals of Italy’s version of Strictly.
Last week it was rumored that Olympic diver Tom Daly was tipped to appear in the show. If confirmed, Daly would be the latest in a long line of LGBTI celebrities who have danced on Strictly.
In the past, the seires has seen numerous LGBTI contestants, including Will Young, Julian Clary and Susan Calman. Two of the show’s judges, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli, are also openly gay.
