Lady Gaga took to Instagram yesterday (24 September) to tease a brand new song, and it sounds gorgeous.
The song is from her forthcoming movie, A Star Is Born, and the Instagram video contains clips of the film as well as critics’ reviews.
Is That Alright? is the 25th song on the soundtrack. Gaga, along with Mark Nilan Jr., Nick Monson, DJ White Shadow, Lukas Nelson, and Aaron Raitiere co-wrote the song.
‘Life was so simple,’ she sings. ‘A little boy, a little girl/Laughing and loving, trying to figure out the world.
‘I want you, to look right in my eyes/To tell me you love me, to be right by my side.’
Her vocals are stunning in the brief clip.
Gaga and director and co-star Bradley Cooper wrote a lot of the songs during filming. They also recorded most of the soundtrack live on set.
Get ready… for A Star Is Born
The film is a musical remake of the 1937 film of the same name. It’s the third such remake, following 1954’s with Judy Garland and 1976’s with Barbara Streisand.
It follows Jackson (Cooper), the drinking country singer, and Ally (Gaga), an unknown singer-songwriter, as well as their love story and tribulations with fame.
The film had its premiere at Venice Film Festival, where critics raved over the film and especially Gaga’s performance. People are already saying she could get an Oscar nomination, not just for music, but acting too.
It arrives in theaters next week in the US, on 5 October.
