Ryan Murphy is certainly keeping busy.

Adding to his extensive TV list, he’s developing The Politician, an hourlong comedy series. Longtime collaborators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan are also on board.

Netflix picked up the series after a competitive bidding war, with two seasons already ordered.

Tony winner Ben Platt is starring in the series, with Barbara Streisand and Gwyneth Paltrow in talks to join.

So what’s it about?

Platt plays a wealthy, aspirational politician, Payton, hailing from Santa Barbara, California.

Each season will revolve around a different political race.

It’s not clear who Streisand and Paltrow will play if they join. However, Paltrow previously appeared on Murphy’s Glee and recenty got engaged to Falchuk. They will also co-produce if they come on board.

According to reports, the series is also said to have numerous musical numbers. Given the caliber of talent involved, the excitement is palpable.

Production will start later this summer.

Murphy’s busy schedule

Murphy is one of the most prolific creators in the television world.

American Horror Story is still on, with its most recent season, Cult, tackling the 2016 election. The second season of American Crime Story, about the assassination of Versace, is currently airing.

Fox picked up his new show, 9-1-1, for a second season only two episodes into its first.

He also has Pose, set in 1980s New York, coming to FX. It’s already making history by casting the most number of trans actors.

Finally, he has one more project at Netflix: Ratched. The upcoming series stars Murphy alumni Sarah Paulson as a young version of Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
