Former boxer Anthony Mundine has proved to be one of the more controversial contestants on the Australian version of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.
Before going into the jungle, he gave an interview to the Sydney Morning Herald in which he said homosexuality is ‘wrong’. Mundine, who is Muslim, also said that gay people ‘confuse society.’
This morning (Australia time) he became the second contestant to quit the show. Tennis player Bernard Tomic departed last week.

Mundine had earlier told another contestant, Kerry Armstrong, he was ‘struggling’ and missing his kids. He has been in the show, filmed in South Africa, for just under two weeks.
Posting on his own Facebook after walking out of camp, he said, ‘Hey everyone! No doubt you have seen the headlines by now that I have left the jungle. It was an incredible experience but I miss my family and feel like I have accomplished everything I wanted to do.’

However, he took the opportunity of his departure to again bring up some of his views on gay people to waiting reporters.
The 42-year-old said he thought capital punishment would deter people from being gay and would put it back, ‘behind closed doors, how it used to be.’
He went on to say, ‘If we were to live in a society, just like in Aboriginal culture, that homosexuality is forbidden and you do it and the consequences are capital punishment or death, you think you are going to do it? Or think twice about doing it?’
He also said that he was against visible LGBTI representation. He believes it will lead to pedophiles also wanting their greater rights.
‘Because they are pushing these gay rights so much in the Western world, the pedophiles out there want their rights.’
‘They are not going to be happy until they have primary school kids being gay.
News.com.au reports him saying, ‘I talk the truth. It is the system. I don’t care if you are gay or not, it doesn’t worry me because the creator will judge you later.’
It’s believed that Mundine was paid several hundred thousands of Australian dollars to take part in the show.
Mundine is a former National Football League player, before he crossed over to boxing. He has held the WBA super-middleweight title and the IBO middleweight title.
