Police found a sixth victim of alleged Toronto serial killer Bruce McArthur.
They initially arrested him in mid-January for the murder of two gay men. The victims, Selim Esen, 43, and Andrew Kinsman, 49, first disappeared last spring.
By the end of January, police charged him with three more deaths. They also reportedly found a naked, restrained man in McArthur’s apartment when they arrested him.
The other known victims are Majeed Kayhan, 58; Soroush Marmudi, 50; and Dean Lisowick, 40s.
Now, authorities confirmed there is a sixth victim. Police found the remains in planters at a location where McArthur worked as a landscape, called Mallory Crescent.
Police identified one set of remains as Kinsman’s. He was well known in Toronto’s gay community and his disappearance last year sparked the mobilization of a search. They have not yet specifically identified the other remains.
Det-Sgt. Hank Idsinga said he expects more charges to come.
A bigger and bigger case
According to reports, police are using ground penetrating radar and canine units to find disturbed earth. Then, they use tents and heaters to excavate.
Authorities are also continuing to go through more planters from the site.
Idsinga further confirmed the police department will be looking through hundreds of missing persons cases, as well as McArthur’s own past.
McArthur, 66, worked at Leaside property. He allegedly had a deal with one of the residents to store his equipment in exchange for free lawn service.
Residents are now allowed to return home, but the police are continuing their thorough search.
