Male model says its harder for gay male models to get cast.

Barrett Pall explains being gay in an industry run by gay men ‘just works against you.’

The model and blogger recently posted a video about the modeling industry, inspired by the #MeToo movement.

He wrote below the video: ‘Being gay in an industry that is run by mostly gay men, you would think that being gay isn’t a problem.

‘I learned the hard way that being gay actually makes working as a model much harder.’

Barrett explains in the video: ‘It just works against you. A lot of people who are in positions of power to make these big decisions about who gets cast and gets to do these amazing jobs are still afraid of Middle America’s opinions and largely their spending power.’

Hello Formentera! It's been a crazy nonstop few days, but this trip has already been amazing, and just what I was asking the universe for after my trip through Asia. Tell the universe what you want, work really hard, be persistent, and you will find your dreams coming true. #gratitudeiskey #formentera #barrettlust #travelmore #lifeisabeach

Barrett recalls when he first came out as gay, he did not believe it would have an impact on his modeling career.

However he ‘learned the hard way’ that it would.

The model also spoke briefly about a time when he was looking into becoming an actor.

He says he was told by his agents that to be able to book jobs on popular US TV networks, he would have to stop going to gay bars and having gay friends. Instead he would have to change who he was friends with and ‘get a girlfriend.’

Barrett also touched briefly on the sexual misconduct accusations against fashion photographers Bruce Weber and Mario Testino.

He praised the men who came out with their stories.

He also added: ‘When you are going into this industry, there was and still is this underlying agreement that you will do what you have to to book campaigns and work with certain photographers.’
