Hollywood star Anna Kendrick dished on starring in Paul Feig’s upcoming movie A Simple Favor with Blake Lively — and sharing a kiss with her.

The movie is new ground for the director known for his broad, female-led comedies (Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters).

A Simple Favor is a mystery thriller about three characters: mommy blogger Stephanie (Kendrick), her chic best friend Emily (Lively), and Emily’s husband (Henry Golding). When Emily suddenly disappears, the mystery deepens.

In the movie, Stephanie and Emily share a ‘long, impulsive kiss’.

Speaking to Pride Source, Kendrick described her character as ‘completely in love’ with Emily ‘in a way that she can’t totally understand’.

‘I remember Blake and I both feeling like neither of us wanted to be the aggressor in the scene,’ she said. ‘So, I was worried it would be, like, really sad.’

One thing about the kiss is for sure though — it was fresh.

‘All I’m ever thinking about in (kissing) scenes is, who has gum? Who has a mint?’ she said. ‘And I think Blake is probably the same because I’ve never experienced a guy, like, searching for a mint and searching for gum. So, we were the mintiest, freshest two people to have ever kissed in the history of America.’

She finished: ‘Yeah, it was a fun day.’

Her own sexuality

Kendrick also opened up about her own sexuality and experiences with women.

‘There’s somebody I’m still friends with, and when we met we kissed,’ she recalled.

‘This was after high school, and it was the first time I had kissed a girl where it wasn’t just like, we’re at a party and boys are watching! That horrible performance silliness.’

Though she admitted she hasn’t had an emotional love for a woman, she also said it doesn’t mean it could never happen.

The secret lesbian ending to Pitch Perfect

Beca is one of Kendrick’s best-known roles — the a cappella crooner from Pitch Perfect. She’s also one of Kendrick’s queerest roles, with the fans wanting her to end up with Chloe (Brittany Snow).

Though they didn’t end up together, Kendrick admitted she wanted an ending like that.

‘We did shoot one version where Brittany and I tricked everybody into just shooting one that was just the two of us getting together,’ she revealed. ‘We knew it was a long shot. It meant so much to us that there was this following around their latent relationship and, yeah, I thought it would’ve been really cool if it would have ended up coming to fruition in the end.’

She also added if there was ever a fourth movie, she would ‘fight tooth and nail’ for Beca and Chloe.
