It looks like the world is about to get a Spice Girls animated superhero movie it never knew it needed, but definitely wants.

Apparently, all five Spice Girls have given permission for their likeness to be used in a ‘girl power’ themed superhero movie.

Each Spice Girl will voice their own characters which will each have a unique ‘girl power’ that reflects their personality, according to a report in Variety.

Variety’s anonymous source said the girls were ‘fired up about the idea’.

‘The Spice Girls are thinking big in terms of a franchise on a global scale. They’re the most successful girl group on the planet. It’s just what Marvel or Disney needs,’ the source said.

It’s not the first time Spice Girls, Posh Spice aka Victoria Beckham, Scary Spice aka Melanie Brown, Baby Spice aka Emma Bunton, Sporty Spice aka Melanie Chisholm and Ginger Spice aka Geri Horner (nee Halliwell) have played themselves in a feature film.

Their 1997 film Spice World released at the height of their fame was not a critical success, but did gain a cult following which is strong to this day.

Victoria Beckham teased a possible reunion of the girl in an Instagram post last month, leaving people hoping the girls were reuniting for a world tour.

Either way, we’re excited for whatever the Spice Girls bring us.

Until they reveal what project is next for them let’s enjoy their epic performance at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
