Belgian Pride Festival returns for its 15th year

Written by gaytourism

Like its poster of an artist who is queer and proud of it, Belgian Pride Brussels is stating its originality with a program that’s been created by its citizens. They love avant-garde art, cultural exchanges, collective thought, fleeting encounters, inclusive beauty… Belgian Pride is continuing its story and original missions, namely:

• To highlight queer talent from Brussels and outside;
• To create links between different worlds;
• To offer safe spaces where people can think and build a fairer society together.

You’ll know that the 2019 festival firmly tackles poetic politics in offering a range of activities across different areas: music, shows, conferences, cinema, drag performances, discoveries, celebrations, voguing and creations.
#AllForOne

Belgian Pride is an unmissable event for Brussels’ LGBTQI+ communities, as it’s the opportunity to shine a light on the everyday work of the associations and their political demands. This year, we have all the more reason to emphasize the militant and demanding characteristics of our movement.

In fact, Belgian Pride also bears the #AllForOne slogan, chosen by the three regional organizations – RainbowHouse Brussels, Arc-en-Ciel Wallonia and çavaria. This gives visibility to LGBTQI+ people who experience intersectional discrimination (racism, sexism, ableism, etc.). It’s also the opportunity to honor and celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York, which were the catalysts for the present international LGBTQI+ movement.

In anticipation of the 2019 regional and federal elections, RainbowHouse has drawn up a list of demands that aim to make Belgium a champion of equality! This is because, despite the legislative gains that have been made in the last few years, there are still many challenges to overcome regarding equality and access to rights. We are asking politicians to bear in mind what the reality is for LGBTQI+ people, for example when facing other discriminations (racism, sexism, etc.).

The Belgian Pride program is intensely queer, demanding and inclusive. Discover it in its entirety and without further delay.
