As soon as Kanye West tweeted his support for President Donald Trump, celebrities began unfollowing him on Twitter.
West posted a series of tweets approving of the US president, including a photo of his Make America Great Again hat, personally signed by Trump himself.
It all started when he tweeted: ‘I no longer have a manager. I can’t be managed.’
The Gold Digger singer started talking about his shoe company, Yeezy. He referenced the announcement he made in 2016 about running for president in 2020.
He said in a tweet: ‘When we become president, we have to change the name of the plane from Air Force one to Yeezy force one.’
West then started talking about the current sitting president. He tweeted: ‘You don’t have to agree with Trump but the mob can’t make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don’t agree with everything anyone does. That’s what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.’

He explains in a series of tweets that he’s not political but he loves Trump.
Then President Trump actually quote-tweeted West and said: ‘Thank you Kanye! Very cool.’
He also quote-tweeted the photo of West’s of the Make America Great Again hat with the caption: ‘MAGA!’
Kanye then posts a series of tweets back and forth with the president. They have to be seen to be believed.
Celebrities unfollow Kanye West
In response to the bizarre series of tweets, a host of celebrities unfollowed Kanye West.
Among them were Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, Drake, Troye Sivan, BTS, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift and Jaden Smith.
Also among the celebrities were sisters-in-law Kylie Jenner and Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian.
Stephen Colbert spoke about it on his show last night (25 April).
He said in a video: ‘We have the right to independent thought but I independently think Kanye has lost his mind.
‘Brother to brother, I just want to say – put the phone down,’ he added.

Janelle Monae also said during a Hot97 radio show segment: ‘Well, one – I don’t agree with him.
‘I believe in free thinking. But I don’t believe in free thinking if it’s rooted in or at the expense of the oppressed. If your free thinking is used as fuel by oppressors to continue to oppress black people or minorities, I think it’s bullshit and it’s not okay.’
Chance The Rapper defended Kanye and wrote on Twitter: ‘Black people don’t have to be democrats.’
