Syracuse, N.Y. — A shelter for LGBTQ youths will soon open its doors in Syracuse, the first in Central New York, officials said.

The Dr. Alejandro Garcia Runaway and Homeless Youth House will soon become a second home to youths in need, said Dan Sieburg, chief executive officer of the Rescue Mission Alliance of Syracuse. It plans to open the shelter by the end of June.
