The nominations for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) were announced today with many LGBTQ artists and allies — both familiar and new — on the list.
Among the LGBTQ nominees were first time nominee and rising star Chappell Roan, who nabbed two nominations including Best New Artist. Billie Eilish also received two nominations including Video of the Year.
GLAAD Media Award nominee Anitta earned three nominations including Best Latin alongside Vanguard Award recipient Bad Bunny who is also nominated for Artist of the Year. Grammy-winning artist Victoria Monét looks to clear space on her mantle as she received two nominations including Best R&B for her “On My Mama” vid.

Taylor Swift, who leads the nomination pack with 10 nominations, is on the way to shattering her own record to become the only artist to ever three-peat and win five times for Video of the Year. Post Malone isn’t too far behind with nine nominations while Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter earned six each. With “Mamushi” fever in the air, Megan Thee Stallion enters the VMA fray alongside SZA with five nominations each. LISA, Olivia Rodrigo, and Teddy Swims clock in at four noms each.
Beginning today, fans can vote for their favorites across 15 gender-neutral categories, including Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Artist of the Year, by visiting vote.mtv.com through August 30.
