If the imminent release of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again! starring gay icon, Cher, wasn’t exciting enough – the legendary singer has just announced she is releasing an album entirely of ABBA covers.
Cher revealed the very exciting news on the Today show in an interview with Kathie Lee Gifford.
‘What excites Cher at this point in your life?’ Gifford asked Cher.
The singer and actress played coy at first asking, ‘Should I say it?’.
But then she revealed the good news.
‘After I did ‘Fernando’ , I thought, it would really be fun to do an album of ABBA songs. So I did,’ she said.
Cher performs the classic ABBA song in the upcoming film which premieres on 20 July. She’ll also perform Super Trouper in the film. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again! is a prequel to the 2006 movie featuring the music of ABBA.
She didn’t give away too much about when the album will come out, but told Gifford it would not be what people expect.
‘It’s not what you think of when you think of ABBA, because I did it in a different way,’ Cher said in the interview.

Cher gets nervous?
Cher admitted she was ‘terrified’ to join the film’s cast.
‘But everyone was so nice to me,’ she said at a press event in London.
‘It was hard to go on set where you’re a stranger to everyone. I knew some of the people, but to have such a “mean grandmother” thing and then work your way into the story and be friends with everybody… but I felt really kind of loved and kind of a great grandmother!’
In the movie, Cher plays Ruby Sheridan, the mother to Donna, played by Meryl Streep in the last film. In the new film, the younger Donna is played by Cinderella actress Lily James.
