Cher has discussed her lovelife in a new interview, admitting she doesn’t have a boyfriend ‘this week’.
The star also opened up about her past relationship with Tom Cruise, revealing they both suffer from dyslexia.
Cher first met Tom at Madonna and Sean Penn’s Malibu wedding in 1985. ‘Then a bunch of people who were dyslexic were invited to the White House, and Tom and I are both dyslexic,’ says Cher. ‘We didn’t go out till way later, but there definitely was a connection there.’
On whether they’re still friends, Cher said: ‘Yeah! Though I don’t get what he does, that whole Scientology thing. I can’t understand it so I just… don’t.’
The Believe singer previously told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that Tom ‘was in my top five‘ lovers.
‘I’m still on the lookout’
Cher was also asked by Event is she currently has a boyfriend. ‘Not… not this week. I’m still on the lookout.’
She furthermore added: ”The problem I have with all the boyfriends lately is that I don’t want to go any place with them because you can’t keep a relationship going in this kind of goldfish bowl, where everything you do and every picture you have taken will be on Instagram. There’s no way to keep something… special.’
Cher also spoke about her son Chaz, a member of the trans community, in the chat.
The star admits it ‘took a while’ for her to understand her son’s gender identity. ‘And then as I started to see him kind of blossom, and be happier than I’d seen him in such a long time, it was just great,’ she said.
‘Chaz is happier than I’ve ever known him,’ she added. ‘But he’s also very nervous of this climate. America is a much more dangerous place now. There’s a lot more hate crime.’
