Demi Lovato cancelled her London show on Sunday – three hours before she was due to take the stage.

The pop star, 25, was scheduled to perform at the 02 Arena as part of her Tell Me You Love Me Tour.

Lovato posted a message on Twitter that afternoon revealing that she is ‘very very sick’. She blamed ‘swollen vocal chords’ for the cancellation.

‘I write this through tears of frustration and sadness that I have to postpone my concert in London tonight,’ she wrote.

‘If I go on tonight and injure my vocal chords anymore I could potentially have to cancel the rest of my tour.

‘I’m so so sorry to disappoint any of my fans in London that have traveled hours to be here by plane or car, and to all of the fans that got these tickets for their birthday, holiday or any other special occasion. It breaks my heart to let you down.’

The show was immediately rescheduled for June 25.

Lovato also posted a video to her Instagram demonstrating the damage to her vocal chords, and apologising once more.

‘I always wanted to play the 02 so I’m really sad to let my fans down. I’m just very, very sick right now. Hopefully I will be able to perform at the 02, very soon.’

Fans record ‘get well soon’ video

Some of the fans who had arrived at the venue Sunday night recorded a video for the singer of them performing the chorus to her track Skyscraper. Her fans, known as Lovatics, held up signs saying ‘get well soon’.

Lovato shared her joy upon seeing the video on Twitter.

‘My fans are seriously the best… I can’t believe how much love and support I’ve received today… the video of my fans singing skyscraper outside of the venue made me cry,’ she wrote.

Lovato embarked on the tour in February this year in support of her sixth studio album, Tell Me You Love Me. The tour has so far visited North America and Europe, and is due to wrap up in South America in November.
