Singer Demi Lovato was rushed to a hospital in Los Angeles on Tuesday (24 July) afternoon after suffering an apparent heroin overdose.
TMZ first reported the news.
According to the initial report, law enforcement revealed Lovato was transported to the hospital in the early afternoon from her Hollywood Hills home.
Doctors are currently treating her, but her condition is unknown.
Lovato has faced battles with substance abuse and mental illness (she has bipolar disorder) for years.
Most recently, she released a new song, Sober, suggesting she may have broken her six years of sobriety.
Fighting and helping end stigmas
Lovato has also long been outspoken about her personal battles. It’s part of the reason she began offering free therapy sessions to fans before her concerts.
In another recent interview, she revealed she contemplated suicide at the age of seven.
She was about to travel again for more concerts. Her next show was planned for Thursday (26 July) night in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Her fans are posting messages to Twitter with their thoughts, prayers, and love for the singer.
