Glee actor Kevin McHale posted a nondescript picture to Instagram and it has fans wondering if he subtly came out.
The photo is a simple black and white image of one hand on top of another. It’s intimate and sweet. Along with the image, McHale included a single emoji: the ASL hand gesture for ‘I love you’.
Fans are congratulating him
McHale didn’t tag anyone in the photo, but many people think the anonymous hand is Austin McKenzie.
McKenzie is an actor best known for his portrayal of Melchior Gabor in Deaf West’s Broadway revival of Spring Awakening. The pair have been spending time together and frequently pop up on each other’s social media accounts.
However, neither has confirmed or denied anything — and it could be someone else entirely. Many fans, though, are congratulating McHale, and sometimes McKenzie, in comments.
McHale played Artie on Ryan Murphy’s satirical comedy Glee, about a midwest high school’s glee club. Most recently he appeared in Dustin Lance Black’s miniseries about gay rights, When We Rise. McKenzie was also in that series.
McHale has also long been a supporter of LGBTI rights and equality.
