A transgender woman in Pakistan was brutally burned alive after allegedly rejecting the sexual advances of four men.

What happened?

The attack took place on Thursday, 6 September. This unidentified person was misgendered in news reports.

The victim suffered from burn injuries on 80% of her body. She died while in transit to the hospital.

According to police, four men took the trans woman to a deserted place near a cab station in the Sahiwal district outside Lahore. After resisting their attempts at sexual assault, they lit her on fire.

Still, the Fateh Sher police have yet to file a report for this incident.

Trans Action Pakistan released a disturbing clip of the moment the dying victim was taken to the hospital.

Note: the video contains graphic, violent images.

According to Trans Action Pakistan, no one claimed the woman’s body after her death. Her remains were given to the municipal corporation for burial.

Anything else?

This brutal attack comes less than a month after Pakistan’s trans community protested the violence they are subjected to. In 2018 alone, over 489 trans women were assaulted in just one province of Pakistan.
