Thorgy Thor made her life-long ambition of an orchestral drag performance a reality.
The RuPaul’s Drag Race alum, star of season eight and All-Stars season three, joined Symphony Novia Scotia for a performance at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium in Halifax, Canada on 27/28 July.
She performed a mixture of classical scores by the likes of Tchaikovsky, and versions of modern pop hits by Madonna and Lady Gaga.
The ‘queen of classical music’ took to Instagram yesterday to praise her fellow musicians.
She wrote: ‘Bravo to @symphonyns – the first ever #thorchestra thankyou to Daniel for your finesse and hard work. What an honor working with these fine musicians’.

She also posted a photo of her in front of the sold-out audience, expressing her elation.
‘Humbled and honored that every seat was taken last night. This has been a dream of mine for years. Next stop…EVERY CITY IN THE WORLD!!! Thank you @danielbartholomewpoyser and @symphonyns.’
The Symphony posted several messages of gratitude to their own Instagram account.
Thorgy made no secret of her ambitions during her time on RuPaul’s Drag Race, and even played violin for her All-Stars talent show challenge.

Thorgy cried during rehearsals
Symphony Novia Scotia conductor Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser reached out to Thorgy with the idea of making her dream come true, as well as creating a space for LGBTQ performers.
‘As a member of the LGBTQ community, I’ll use whatever I can to create queer-friendly spaces,’ said the conductor.
‘There are so many people who aren’t welcome in their homes, churches or their jobs—but they are welcome at my concert.’
‘It was an ego-booster when I heard we sold out the first show and needed to add another date—next stop international tour!’, Thorgy said of her shows.
‘I am so humbled and have even cried while practicing for this—it means so much to me to combine my two selves and have so much interest from the public.
‘It feels good to bring everyone together under roof. I’m hoping the younger generation of artistically inclined and queer-identifying kids feel inspired by me and say to themselves “I, too, can be a man in a wig playing violin on stage.”‘
