RuPaul stars in Drag Race All Stars 3

Drag Race queens have come forward to support RuPaul following comments made by Pearl last week.

The season seven contestant appeared on Hey Qween to call out the drag superstar.

She says she tried to thank RuPaul for allowing her to appear on the show.

Pearl then claimed she said: ‘Nothing you say matters unless that camera is rolling’.

Season 8 winner Bob The Drag Queen and season 10 queen Monét X Change have come forward to support RuPaul.

They both reposted a message from fan Eric Mendo on their Instagrams. Bob called it ‘the real tea’.

‘Imagine this. A white man accuses a black man of a slight/insult, with no evidence. The black man, with no trial or evidence is immediately found guilty publicly attacked/trolled and disrespected.

‘Also consider the black man has done nothing but pave paths and do amazing things for disenfranchised and queer people.

‘But none of that matters for the black man. This is called white privilege and racial prejudice!’

This is not unusual for the Drag Race fanbase. Queens of color have been vocal on how difficult it is to get the same support as white contestants. Queens like Jasmine Masters, Tyra Sanchez and The Vixen have all been mercilessly attacked on social media.

What did Pearl say?

Pearl said on Hey Qween: ‘Yeah, so as I was saying, I felt like the only way for me to like get anywhere on the show was to build some kind of relationship with the judges.

‘We were filming a segment [and] just kind of chatting… and then the camera went down for a moment.

‘I turned to RuPaul and I said: “Oh my God, I just want to say thank you so much. It is such an honor to be here, such a pleasure to meet you – you have no idea what this…” just giving her everything I want to say to her.

‘And she turned to me and she said: “Nothing you say matters unless that camera is rolling”. And that broke my spirit.’

Pearl: ‘It was so heartbreaking’

Pearl then said: ‘That is the reason why I had one foot in and one foot out the entire time I was on that show.

‘Maybe that’s me being petty, maybe that’s me thinking that it should’ve been something that I never should have expected it to be.

But, in that moment, it was like so heartbreaking. Because I idolized her – worshipped her – and I felt like it was just so disrespectful.

‘It was just so Hollywood, rotted, like gross thing. How could you say that to somebody who is just obsessed with you?’

Pearl goes on to say that incident explains her ‘attitude on the show’.

She then references the now famous scene where she and RuPaul have a staring match and Pearl breaks the silence to say: ‘Do I have something on my face?’

She continued: ‘That’s why I didn’t give a shit when it came down to that moment.’

Pearl talks about this at around 11:05:
