Blue singer Duncan James has revealed that one of the first times he opened up about his sexuality, it was to Spice Girl Geri Horner – who he’d just been dating.
The Hollyoaks actor was speaking to GSN at the NatWest British LGBT Awards, which he presented alongside Geri’s Spice Girls bandmate Mel B.
‘Mel B’s just great, I love her,’ Duncan told us. ‘But I used to fancy the pants off Geri. We went out on a few little dates, nothing serious. [Then] I told her I was gay…’
He furthermore added: ’I came out to Geri Halliwell, pretty much. She was one of the first people I came out to. How many people can say they came out to a Spice Girl?’
The pair were first linked after presenting Party in the Park together in 2014.
Ginger Spice Geri’s surname was Halliwell until she married F1 boss Christian Horner in 2015. She and Christian have a son, Monty, while Geri is also a mom to daughter Bluebell from a previous relationship.

Meanwhile, Duncan is a dad to daughter Tianie-Finn James, from a previous relationship with a woman. He has identified as bisexual in interviews in the past, but said on Loose Women in 2017: ‘I’m very happy that I’m a gay guy and I have a little girl.’
He furthermore added: ‘I had a wonderful response from everyone. We’re living in 2017 it shouldn’t be a problem… You know what they say, there’s always a gay one in a boyband! It’s normal now. But sportsman still have trouble and there’s still a stigma in certain countries around the world.’
