Member of popular girl group Fifth Harmony, Lauren Jauregui has opened up in an interview about the impact her coming out had on her fans.
In an interview with British newspaper The Sun, she explained her coming out had a positive effect on her life.
On coming out, Lauren said: ‘For me, coming into my own and being comfortable with myself really changed me as a person. And made me more confident and vibrant’.
Lauren came out last November in an open letter to President Trump, confidently saying ‘I am a bisexual Cuban-American woman and I am so proud of it’.
She also adds her parents are ‘loving, supportive’ people who have embraced her for who she is.
The impassioned letter also blasts anyone who voted for Trump, going on to say by voting for him their ‘actions have led to the single-handed destruction of all the progress we’ve made socially as a nation’.
Since her coming out, Lauren has had multiple fans approach her and thank her for coming out as it has helped them to love themselves.
‘A bunch of my fans have come up to me and said, ‘because of you and because you came out, I have finally begun to accept myself’. That is infinitely incredible for me. I didn’t expect to get to the point where I would own up to it within myself’.
The singer is a member of popular girl group Fifth Harmony, and joined by Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei and Dinah Jane Hansen. Previously also a member was Camila Cabello, who left the group last year.
