Former Playboy Centerfold Stephanie Adams

Former Playboy Playmate Stephanie Adams, 47, allegedly leaped to her death from an NYC building on Friday, 18 May. She took her 7-year-old son with her.

What happened?

Adams was in the middle of a nasty custody battle with her ex-husband, according to the New York Post.

She and her son checked into the Gotham Hotel on the night of Thursday, 17 May and stayed in a penthouse suite on the 25th floor. The following morning, their bodies were found on a second-floor landing in the hotel’s back courtyard.

Background

Adams, Playboy’s 1992 Miss November, was the first lesbian centerfold. She came out in a She Magazine cover story in 2003. In 2004, The Village Voice named her the best lesbian sex symbol. Early in her career, she had a short-lived marriage with a male investment banker.

However, in 2009, she married another man—Charles Nicolai, owner of Wall Street Chiropractic & Wellness. She had since become estranged from her husband, who reportedly demanded she hand over their child’s passport.

Sources told the New York Post that their relationship was so toxic that she would beet Nicolai with their son at a police precinct for visitation handovers.

It is unclear if Adams left a suicide note.

Reactions

Many on social media condemned Adams’ decision to take her son with her on the fatal leap. However, those who actually knew her understood the toxic situation she was in the middle of.

Others think there’s more to the story, and that perhaps she was pushed from the penthouse suite.
