Openly lesbian Christian rock star Vicky Beeching has revealed she has ‘let go’ her dreams of becoming an Anglican priest.

This is because she was ‘informally’ warned by six liberal bishops and senior clergy members she would have to become celibate in order to continue her training.

It is also because she can’t escape the Church’s teachings that same-sex relationships are wrong, according to the new report.

‘My career and vocation are blocked by a stained glass ceiling’ says Vicky.

‘It will take too long for the church to change on this’

In an interview with the Sunday Times, Vicky said: ”I can’t say I believe same-sex relationships and marriage are sinful.’

She furthermore added: ‘I have decided it will take too long for the church to change on this. I can’t move into that role with the infighting, the disciplinary measures going on for LGBT clergy who step outside the lines.’

Before coming out, Vicky experienced much success in the UK and the US as a Christian rock singer.

So bright were her prospects during this time she was also urged to become a priest by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.

”I’m gay. God loves me just the way I am.’

However, Vicky confirmed she was a lesbian in a 2014 interview saying: ‘I’m gay. God loves me just the way I am.’

She was immediately blacklisted by many radio stations that had previously supported her and dropped by her record company.

Oxford-educated Vicky recently released her memoir Undivided. In it she reveals eight adults forced her to have an exorcism at age 16, shouting ‘Demons of homosexuality, leave.’
