Postcards From London – the sequel to 1994’s Postcards From America – will close the 32nd BFI Flare Film Festival in March.
Steve McLean’s classic film followed the life of a gay man who becomes a street hustler and thief after suffering abuse.
The film was based on the writings of artist and AIDS activist David Wojnarowicz, who passed away in 1992.

From London with love
Now the sequel, set in modern day London, follows Essex-hailing Jim (Harris Dickinson) who moves to the city as he seeks excitement.
But on arrival he finds himself homeless and meets a group of male escorts with an ‘encyclopedic knowledge of arts’.

Postcards From London: A love song to European queer art and culture
Artistic Director For BFI Festivals Tricia Tuttle said in a statement on the BFI website:
‘In recent years, the Festival has been developing links between the established film industry and the UK’s very exciting new generation of emerging LGBT identified filmmakers.
‘We’re seeing a true strength in depth of talent in the UK and it’s a real thrill to see this in action with our Closing Night film, Steve McLean’s stylish and witty Postcards from London, a love song to European queer art and culture.’
The festival started in 1986 and was originally called Gay’s Own Pictures.
The full 2018 programme will pack in 56 feature films across 11 days.
The full running order will be announced on Wednesday 21 February.
