In a meme posted to their Instagram account, the Log Cabin Republicans (LCR) of Colorado compared President Joe Biden to Adolf Hitler and implied that Biden will murder millions of conservatives if reelected.
The meme juxtaposes pictures of Biden and Hitler. The Biden picture is captioned “MAGA voters are the cause of our problem,” which isn’t something Biden has ever said. The Hitler picture is captioned, “The JEWS are the cause of our problems.”

Gay blogger Joe Jervis pointed out that the LCR of Colorado’s executive director is Valdamar Archuleta, who is running for Congress in Colorado’s First Congressional District. Archuleta blamed LGBTQ+ people for the Club Q shooting in 2022 when five people died in a massacre at the LGBTQ+ nightclub. The shooting followed months of conservative rhetoric calling LGBTQ+ people “groomers,” or child sex abusers.
“If you’re really upset about being called a #groomer maybe you should step back and reevaluate your activity around children,” Archuleta wrote on Facebook just a week after the mass shooting. “At the very least for appearances sake.”
“The biggest threat to increasing violence towards the LGBT community are LBGT Activists and Organizations who make LGBT people look insane, unreasonable, and menacing,” he wrote several weeks later. “We will face more hate in the future directly due to these activists and organizations.”
In a statement defending himself after those Facebook posts, Archuleta told the Colorado Times-Recorder that he is aware that baseless pedophilia accusations have long been used against LGBTQ+ people to justify discrimination and violence. He said he believes the solution is for LGBTQ+ people to stop interacting with children at all.
“I’m very aware of the history of gay men unjustly being linked to pedophiles as a group,” he said. “And yes, I know this has been used to justify hatred towards the LGBT community. This is exactly why I feel this new fad of including children in LGBT activities with sexual themes is so dangerous. Not only is the sexualizing of children damaging to kids, it gives fuel to the rumors linking gay men to pedophilia. I also have never said that ‘LGBT people are pedophiles’ nor do I believe that.”
Colorado’s First Congressional District is currently represented by Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO), who won her first congressional race in 1996. The district leans heavily Democratic and DeGette has won all her reelection bids with over 65% of the vote.
