Police have arrested two security guards who dragged people out of a Dua Lipa concert for waving Pride flags.

The violent incident happened at Dua’s show in Shanghai last week, with video showing guards assaulting people outside the stadium.

Qingpu Police in Shanghai confirmed they arrested Zhu, 22, and Nai, 20, for beating the concert goers. They sentenced the pair to detention for 10 days.

A visibly upset Dua, 23,  told the crowd she wanted to create a fun and safe environment for her fans.

‘I want us all to dance. I want us all to sing, I want us all to just have a really good time,’ she said in Shanghai.

The day after the incident Dua posted a longer statement in honor of her LGBTI fans.  She said the incident ‘horrified’ her.

‘Last night I did it for my fans,’ the New Rules singer wrote on Instagram. ‘A promised show. I stood by them, sang with them and danced with them.

‘I will stand by you all for your love and beliefs and I am proud and grateful that you felt safe enough to show your pride at my show.

‘What you did takes a lot of bravery. I always want my music to bring strength, hope and unity.’

Tour organizers, Live Nation, said the violence started after a concert goer twisted their ankle and security tried to help.

Security ‘overreacted’ as they tried to protect other fans from hurting themselves, according at report in the Daily Mail.

Live Nation thanks Dua for ‘giving her fans the best experience possible under these difficult circumstances’.
