PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – Eating fresh home-cooked breakfast, enjoying the company of others, and donating some money for a good cause.

The Gulf Coast LGBTQ Center held its first-ever pancake breakfast fundraiser.

At the St. Andrews Episcopal Church members got up early to chef up everything they needed for the crowd. On the menu were eggs, sausage, orange juice, apple juice, and of course some pancakes smothered in syrup.

To grab a plate a donation of $10 was requested. Those 12 years and younger only had to pay $5.

The money raised goes to support programs and services provided by the nonprofit.

“Nonprofits such as ours, it relies heavily on donations and grants. Grants are tricky sometimes, but you can’t get them. It just takes a lot of work. But we still need funds coming in steadily. So we try to be creative and fun and coming up with different ideas to raise those funds, such as the pancake breakfast,” Gulf Coast LGBTQ Center Executive Director William Shurbutt-Rardin said.

Attendees who asked nicely got chocolate chips in their pancakes. Event organizers said they would like to continue doing fundraiser ideas similar to this in the future.
