At the end of last month (30 July), the Queen of Pop took to Facebook to urge people to donate to her charity, Raising Malawi.

She wrote: ‘For my birthday, I can think of no better gift than connecting my global family with this beautiful country and the children who need our help most.

‘Every dollar raised will go directly to meals, schools, uniforms and healthcare,’ she said.

Madonna founded Raising Malawi in 2006 to address the poverty endured by Malawi’s orphans.

She then tweeted today: ‘Best birthday present ever!’

Happy birthday Madonna!
