Homophobic former NBA player wins primary, will face pro-LGBTQ+ Sen. Amy Klobuchar

Written by

Royce White — a former NBA player, conspiracy theorist, and frequent user of homophobic slurs — defeated his opponent, Joe Fraser, in the primary elections for the U.S. Senate in Minnesota. Now, White will face incumbent Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D) in the general election in November.

The Minnesota Republican Party endorsed White in May, even though he was suspected of possible campaign finance violations for allegedly spending thousands in donor money in a strip club.

According to CBS News, Fraser was expected to win the race but lost when he only garnered 29% of votes. White won 38%.

White is an avid supporter of former President Donald Trump, and opposes “the church of LGBTQ.” His X account is full of homophobic slurs, and The Daily Dot wrote that it is “littered with derogatory statements and offensive slurs,” including seven posts that use the word “f*g” and two that use the word “tr**ny.”

He specifically called several news outlets “beta cuck f-gs” in an X post saying that The Guardian, The Washington Post, Mother Jones, and The Star Tribune were “foot soldiers of the New World Order.”

A complaint has been filed against White with the Federal Election Commission for his alleged misappropriation of more than $157,000 in his 2022 campaign funds, including funds spent at a strip club. He also reportedly owes tens of thousands of dollars in childcare payments.

He is a frequent guest ofn Alex Jones’s Infowars, which pushes anti-LGBTQ+ conspiracy theories. White most recently made the news for pushing back against vice presidential presumptive nominee Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) for calling conservatives weird.

“We’re weird?” White said. “You freaks support Pride festivals where grown men are getting p**sed on and sucking each other off in public. You’re a clown and you’re lucky your term wasn’t up or I would’ve run against you. The People Are Coming! You communists are exposed.”

White first gained public attention in 2022 when he attempted to run against Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar (D), but he lost the Republican primary to Cicely Davis. During that campaign, White wrote about a “group of Jewish elite that tends to be secular in belief and corrupt in political practice.” When called on his anti-semitism, he responded that “You can’t be antisemitic when you pray to a Jewish carpenter every morning for salvation.”

White was referring to the Christian deity, Jesus. Although Jesus was Jewish, some Christians still hold anti-semitic views because they blame Jewish people for his death.

It’s pretty unlikely White will ever see the inside of Congress. Klobuchar won over 60% of the vote during her third reelection campaign in 2018. CBS News noted that she has nearly $19 million in campaign funding, in stark contrast to the $85,000 in White’s campaign account.

Former basketball player and airplane victim Royce White just won the GOP nomination to run against Amy Klobuchar in the U.S. Senate.

“Well look, let’s just be frank, women have become too mouthy. As the black man in the room, I’ll say that”.
