Spandau Ballet reportedly have a new frontman – and he’s 30 years old.

Ross William Wild, also known as Rusty Wild, will replace previous lead singer Tony Hadley, who is 57, according to The Mirror. Tony quite the band last year.

Spandau Ballet were one of the biggest bands of the 80s, scoring global hits such as Gold and True.

Ross’s experience as a performer includes musical theatre roles like Million Dollar Quartet.

‘There is new music’

A source told the The Mirror of Ross: ‘[He] has a fantastic voice and got on well with Martin, so it hasn’t taken him long to get welcomed into the fold – they all think he’s great.

‘He’ll join them on live dates later this year, and there is new music.’

The source furthermore added: ”They’re hoping Ross will help them win over new fans. [As well] as being a welcome addition to their fanbase.’

Reps for Spandau Ballet declined to comment when approached by Gay Star News.

Either way, Rusty’s Instagram page is worth a look, if not for pics of him with his celebrity pals (there’s Sam Smith below) then the full on nudity.

The new lead singer of the band will be officially unveiled at a gig in London next Wednesday 6 June.

Rusty would be following in the footsteps of another big-voiced 30-something who’s brought a vintage band to new fans.

Adam Lambert, who found fame on American Idol, has performed well-received gigs as the frontman of Queen in recent years.

The band was iconically fronted by Freddie Mercury, until his death from AIDS-related causes in 1991.
