People all across the United States celebrated the holiday 4th of July yesterday. This included Scottish-American actor John Barrowman who had a grand old time at his Palm Springs home if his Instagram is anything to go by.

Born in Glasgow, Barrowman grew up primarily in the US and has both British and American citizenships.

He is an outspoken advocate of political issues on both sides of the Atlantic. Therefore, it’s no surprise his patriotic party was full of both fabulous outfits and themes of diversity and progress.

Some of the outfits included red strappy heels and a starry red, white, and blue cape.

Equality and welcoming everybody

While lounging in the pool wearing the red heels, Barrowman also delivered a message for the holiday.

‘Hi everybody, happy 4th of July from the Barrowman-Gill [Barrowman’s husband, Scott Gill] household where we are all completely diverse,’ he said. ‘We’ve got different genders, people from different countries all over the world. And that is what our country should be fighting for.

‘That is the moral compass — to give equality and welcome everybody, like we do at the Barrowman-Gill household.’

In an interview with Metro Weekly earlier this year, Barrowman said he’s thought about running for office.

‘I’ve been asked. It’s a thing in the back of my mind. I’m not a naturally-born American citizen, so there are limitations. I could never be President,’ he said.

He also criticized current US politicians.

‘The thing is, you’ve got politicians in Congress right now who are not speaking up and saying anything because they’re afraid they’re gonna lose their seats, and you know what? If you’re not speaking up, you should lose your seat, because you’re meant to be there to defend every person. Not just a certain sect of people, but every goddamn person.’

In another video from the holiday, which includes a fabulous cape twirl, he said equality and diversity are number one at their house.

So many shenanigans

Then the real shenanigans began with wigs, sparkly dresses, and corsets.

There were some struggles, but as Barrowman captioned in one video, he’s still got it.

Getting the damn dress on.

What a night.

And one final message.
