A proclamation recognizing June as LGBTQ Month goes before the Garden Grove City Council for adoption at its meeting on Tuesday.

The original proclamation was approved by the council for June 2018 and a proposal for annual adoption by Councilmember Kim Nguyen-Penaloza was in May 2021.

With the proclamation, the clock tower in Village Green Park will be illuminated with “rainbow” lights and a “Pride” banner during June.

The acronym LGBTQ stands for “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (or Questioning).”

Also on the agenda will be:

second reading and adoption of an ordinance changing the zoning of a 0.88-acre parcel on Newhope Street, north of Garden  Grove Boulevard to allow for the development of a 15-unit residential detached condominium project;
approval of a cooperative agreement with the Orange County Transportation Authority for participation in the Harbor Boulevard Innovative Corridor Project intended to improve safety and the “travel experience” from the Santa Ana Bus Base to the Fullerton Transportation Center.

The council will meet in the Community Meeting Center at 11300 Stanford Ave. at 6:30 p.m.
